A Primary School in Swindon is recruiting a 1:1 Teaching Assistant. You will be working within Key Stage 1 to support a pupil with Special Educational Needs.
Your new job
As a 1:1 primary teaching assistant your job will be to support a pupil in KS1. The nature of the class size and structure means that there will be a focus on building positive, meaningful relationships with the students. The small class sizes are intended to create a calm atmosphere and to facilitate this relationship building, and will also involve the maintenance of a safe and secure environment for the children to learn in.
The successful candidate will be working with SEN pupils on a long term basis offering additional support in the classroom. You will be confident in planning and preparation to work alongside the classroom teacher and to use your skills and experience as a teaching assistant. You will work alongside the Key Stage 1 department to support the teacher.
What you’ll need to succeed
Ideally you will have a level 3 qualification (NVQ or equivalent) in Supporting Teaching and Learning as well as recent and relevant experience in a similar role. The challenges you will face day to day mean you must be a dedicated Teaching Assistant with a key passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and the desire to have a positive impact on building good relationships with staff and students. You will need to have good time keeping and preparation skills in order to be a fantastic asset to the school. As per Department for Education (DfE) guidelines you will need to be able to provide full identification copies and reference details from the relevant experience you have previously gained in this or a similar setting.
